About the role

DataIQ is experience exceptional grown and is seeking a Business Development Manager. This role will open recent Sydney mid-market accounts for DataIQ's Microsoft data, analytics, integration and Power Platform services. This is a hunting role for someone who arrives with a transferable network of mid-market decision-makers and has personally sourced and closed new consulting business before.

Key responsibilities

- Originate new-logo opportunities in the Sydney mid-market through your own network, referrals, Microsoft co-sell, events and targeted, trigger-led outreach.
- Run discovery-led first meetings with CFOs, COOs, CIOs and heads of data; qualify on compelling event, economic buyer, timeline and value.
- Shape and propose first engagements (Fabric/BI, Azure integration and EDI, Power Platform/D365, managed data services) working with the Head of Data Engineering on scope and estimates.
- Present proposals live, manage the decision process, and negotiate to close.
- Own the handover to delivery and stay close through the first release; convert successful first engagements into managed-services and expansion.
- Maintain a rigorous CRM: every conversation logged with an outcome.
- Report weekly against activity and pipeline standards; forecast by stage with evidence.
- Build and maintain the Microsoft co-sell relationship in Sydney (Partner Center referrals, field sellers, funded programmes).

- Represent DataIQ at partner and sector events; contribute to case studies and market messaging.

About you

- A transferable network of Sydney/NSW mid-market decision-makers (200–2,000-staff organisations) — named accounts and contacts that can be opened within 90 days.
- Demonstrated record of personally sourcing and closing net-new consulting or services business — not inherited territories or product renewals.
- Consulting / services sales experience: has sold time, outcomes and managed services with 3–6 month cycles.
- Microsoft ecosystem fluency — able to hold a credible conversation about Azure, Fabric, Power BI, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform with an IT manager without pre-sales support.
- Disciplined pipeline management and CRM hygiene; comfortable being measured weekly on activity and pipeline standards.
- Strong discovery and commercial writing skills — clear proposals, tight follow-ups, fixed-price positioning.
- Australian work rights and Sydney-based.
- Experience selling into FMCG/manufacturing, community services/NFP or financial services (desirable).
- Experience within a Microsoft partner and familiarity with Partner Center, co-sell and funded programmes (desirable).
- Established relationships with Microsoft Australia field sellers or distributor channels (desirable).

About us DataIQ is a Microsoft partner providing data, analytics, integration and Power Platform services.
