The successful candidate will be appointed at a level reflecting their experience, capability and track record. At either level, this is a commercially focused, client-facing opportunity to originate new business, develop strategic accounts and position MBS as a trusted partner in leadership and organisational capability development.

Working closely with the Business Development Director and colleagues across Executive Education, you will contribute to the development and execution of targeted business development strategies that deliver sustainable revenue growth and increase MBS’s presence across the Industrials market.

You will identify emerging organisational and workforce capability needs, build relationships with senior stakeholders, and lead solution-based sales conversations to understand each client’s context, objectives and measures of success. You will work collaboratively with faculty, learning designers and other specialists to develop compelling, tailored learning solutions and high-quality client proposals.

Depending on your appointment level, you may also take greater responsibility for complex and formal tender processes, key-account strategy,

cross-functional pursuit leadership, portfolio planning and oversight of financial performance.

Key areas of responsibility include:

- Developing and executing business development and go-to-market plans for the Industrials portfolio
- Originating new opportunities through targeted sector engagement, relationship development and proactive outreach
- Building and growing strategic accounts across the resources, mining and construction sectors
- Leading consultative, solution-based sales conversations with stakeholders ranging from learning and development professionals to C-suite executives and boards
- Qualifying client needs and translating them into relevant customised learning solutions
- Collaborating across MBS to prepare high-quality proposals, presentations and tender responses
- Strengthening MBS’s market presence through industry engagement, networks, events and thought leadership
- Providing market, client and competitor insights to inform new products and propositions
- Maintaining disciplined pipeline, forecasting and CRM practices
- Achieving individual revenue and new-orders targets while contributing to portfolio revenue, margin and contribution goals

About You You are a proactive and commercially astute business development professional with a strong record of developing relationships and converting complex opportunities in a B2B environment.

You will bring

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, education or a related discipline
- Proven experience in business development, consultative sales or account growth within professional services, consulting, learning and development, executive education or a similarly complex environment
- Strong capability in solution-based selling involving multiple client conversations, stakeholder groups and tailored proposals
- Demonstrated success in building influential, mutually beneficial relationships with senior stakeholders
- Strong presentation, negotiation and influencing skills

- The ability to operate credibly across client organisations, from functional specialists through to C-suite executives and boards
- Commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to achieve sales and revenue targets
- Strong pipeline management, forecasting, reporting and CRM discipline
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop client solutions and proposals
- High levels of accountability, initiative, organisational agility and interpersonal effectiveness

For appointment at the Senior Business Development Manager level, you will also demonstrate significant experience leading complex client engagements, major account strategies, formal tenders and cross-functional pursuits, together with the commercial capability to contribute to portfolio-level planning and P&L; performance. Experience or established networks within the resources, mining or construction sectors will be highly regarded.

Experience developing or selling customised learning solutions, executive education or organisational capability programs will also be advantageous.

If you are ready to drive growth, shape strategic client partnerships and contribute to meaningful outcomes for organisations and their leaders, we would love to hear from you. You will join a high-performing and collaborative team where your impact is visible, your ideas are valued and your work contributes directly to the future of executive learning.
