Your Position:
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience our Development Assessment Team who pride themselves on sharing a positive experience with our customers providing guidance to ensure we maintain to be one of the top Councils on the timely review and determinations when it comes to all Development Assessment applications.
You will support a small collaborative team and assist with preparing planning documents, assessing development applications, managing planning systems, and engaging with stakeholders.
This role is ideal for someone currently studying Town Planning, as it will provide practical exposure to local government processes and fosters professional growth in a team-oriented environment.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Support the creation of contemporary strategic planning documents that guide sustainable growth across the Burwood LGA.
- Contribute to core City Design functions including preparing strategies and assisting with the assessment of development applications.
- Manage planning systems and registers, including the planning portal, to keep information accurate, accessible and up to date.
- Provide well-researched planning advice, reports and correspondence,
and deliver excellent customer service to applicants and the community.
- Take ownership of tasks to meet timeframes, budgets and legislative requirements, while engaging professionally with Planning Panels, the Design Review Panel and Land and Environment Court matters when required.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be undertaking an undergraduate or post graduate degree in Town Planning or equivalent
- Be able to communicate effectively and sensitively, whilst developing working relationships with all stakeholders
- Interest in acquiring experience as a Local Government planning and development and urban management support functions
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Have good research, analytical, time & project management skills
Key Requirements:
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
- Current NSW C Class Driver's License
- NSW White Card / General Construction Induction card
