Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Service (PLAHS) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and community-focused Cancer Care Support Worker to join our growing Health Team.

This rewarding role supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families throughout their cancer journey, helping them navigate health services, access supports, attend appointments and connect with the care they need. Working alongside our Cancer Care Nurse and multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in improving access to culturally safe cancer care and promoting cancer screening and early detection within our community.

About the Role

As a Cancer Care Support Worker, you will:
- Support community members to navigate cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.
- Provide practical, emotional and cultural support to individuals and families impacted by cancer.
- Promote cancer awareness and deliver culturally appropriate health promotion activities.
- Assist clients to access specialist services, community supports and financial assistance.
- Accompany clients to appointments and advocate for their needs.
- Participate in care planning, case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.




- Work collaboratively with health professionals, hospitals, community organisations and family members to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

About You

We are looking for someone who:
- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement of this position under Section 65s of the SA Equal Opportunity Act 1984
- Has experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to culturally safe, person-centred care.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Can work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Is organised, compassionate and passionate about improving health outcomes.
- Has experience delivering health promotion, education or community support activities.

Essential Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain:
- Current unrestricted driver's licence.
- National Police Check.
- Working with Children Check.
- Evidence of immunisation requirements.
- Current CPR certificate.
- Safe Environments for Children and Young People training (or willingness to obtain).
