The Caring Dads Practitioner role serves a vital purpose in enhancing men's motivation and promoting child-centred fathering. This position addresses men's capacity to engage in respectful, non-abusive co-parenting with children's mothers, recognises that children's experience of trauma will impact the rate of possible change, and works collaboratively with other service providers to ensure that children benefit.
Your New Role
Responsibilities
As a Caring Dads Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based support to fathers who use family violence. Key elements of the role include:
- Conducting initial assessments of group readiness, engagement, safety, and psychosocial support needs
- Facilitating the 17-week evidence-based and manualised Caring Dads group program with fathers who use family violence
- Providing wraparound case management support to fathers throughout their program journey
- Delivering case management support to fathers who are not yet ready for group participation or who require additional support outside of the group setting
- Undertaking ongoing assessments and preparing final reports for program participants
- Engaging in Clinical Review sessions and National Communities of Practice
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of professional expertise,
interpersonal capability, and a genuine commitment to child safety and family wellbeing. You will demonstrate:
- Strong stakeholder relationship skills with the ability to build and maintain effective skilled partnerships
- Proven ability to engage participants and facilitate group workshops in a structured and supportive manner
- The ability to actively participate in and positively enhance team dynamics
- A sound understanding of family violence theories and practice frameworks
- Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to identify risk and safety issues and respond appropriately and in a timely manner
