About the role

Natural Lighting Products specialises in the design, manufacture, distribution and installation of skylights and natural lighting solutions, with operations across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join our team in Noble Park, VIC. This is a full-time Carpenter position involving carpentry work associated with the installation, maintenance and repair of skylight systems in residential and commercial properties.

The successful candidate will undertake carpentry work including timber framing, roof modifications, installation of building materials, preparation of roof openings and light shafts, and repair of structural components required for skylight installation.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

As a Carpenter, your responsibilities will include:

- Studying and interpreting drawings, specifications and site measurements to determine required materials, dimensions, layouts and installation procedures.
- Selecting and preparing timber, plywood and other building materials required for carpentry and skylight installation works.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, joining and fitting timber and other materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Assembling and erecting timber framing for skylight light shafts, roof openings and associated structural supports in accordance with technical specifications.
- Preparing and modifying roof openings and adjusting, installing or replacing timber supports, joists and other structural components as required for skylight installation.
- Installing and fixing building materials and components,



including Gyprock, plywood sheeting, fascia panels, roof flashing and associated materials.
- Assembling and fitting prepared timber components to form structures and fittings required for skylight installations.
- Repairing or replacing existing timber structures and roofing components, including damaged joists, eaves, fascia and associated fittings.
- Checking completed carpentry work to ensure structures and installations are level, secure, structurally sound and compliant with applicable building standards and specifications.
- Setting up work areas and scaffolding where required and performing carpentry work safely at heights and on roofs.
- Following relevant building codes, Australian Standards, workplace health and safety requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.

Qualifications and Experience Applicants must satisfy one of the following requirements:
- Certificate III in Carpentry (or a relevant equivalent carpentry qualification) and at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience as a Carpenter; or
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a Carpenter where the applicant does not hold a relevant carpentry qualification.

Skills and Requirements The successful candidate must have:
- Demonstrated experience in carpentry, particularly roof framing, structural timber work and/or carpentry associated with skylight installation.




- Strong skills in measuring, cutting, shaping, joining and fitting timber and other building materials.
- Ability to construct and modify timber framing and structural supports.
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, specifications and site measurements.
- Knowledge of roofing, weatherproofing, flashing installation and skylight integration.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, Australian Standards and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to safely use carpentry hand tools and power tools.
- Ability and willingness to work safely at heights and on roofs.
- Physical fitness and ability to safely handle building materials.
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transport to attend job sites across metropolitan Melbourne.
- A White Card.
- A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
