About The Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join Central Coast Local Health District as an Aboriginal Population Health Trainee as part of the NSW Aboriginal Population Health Training Initiative. This unique position is designed to build capacity within the Aboriginal workforce to develop and implement population health strategies that protect and promote the health of the local community. The successful applicant will undertake a structured three-year traineeship, combining work-based placements across the health service with part-time study towards a Master of Public Health at a NSW-based university.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

- Support the delivery and evaluation of population health programs and initiatives.
- Assist in developing culturally appropriate health promotion projects and programs for Aboriginal communities.
- Contribute to surveillance, monitoring and reporting activities that inform public health priorities.
- Prepare reports, presentations and health information for a range of audiences.
- Promote initiatives that support disease prevention and healthy communities.
- Build expertise in public health practice while completing a Master of Public Health.

About You

We're looking for someone who:





- Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and has an understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
- Has a recognised undergraduate degree and/or meets the admission requirements for a Master of Public Health at a NSW university.
- Has at least two years' experience in a health, community, education or related field.

- Demonstrates solid communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Can effectively manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Is committed to improving Aboriginal health outcomes and health equity.
- Has experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and can meet the mandatory employment requirements.
