About The Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate Aboriginal Care Navigator to join the Ngaliya Ngara Aboriginal Family Service within the Aboriginal Health Equity Program. This role supports Aboriginal children and families to navigate health and community services, providing culturally safe, family-centred support that promotes engagement, access and improved health and wellbeing outcomes.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Provide culturally safe care navigation, support and advocacy for Aboriginal children, families, parents, carers and kin.
- Support families to understand and access health services, appointments, child health checks and developmental care.
- Work alongside families to identify their health and wellbeing priorities and support them to achieve family-centred goals.
- Build connections between families and health, Aboriginal Community Controlled and other community services to support coordinated care.
- Provide flexible support across community, home, hospital, telephone and telehealth settings to improve access and engagement.

About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds or is working towards a Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a relevant Certificate III health qualification, as applicable to the position.
- Has the ability to engage respectfully and build trusting relationships with Aboriginal children, families, carers and communities.
- Understands the impacts of intergenerational trauma, past policies and barriers to accessing health services experienced by Aboriginal families.
- Can work collaboratively with health professionals, Aboriginal services and community organisations to connect families with appropriate support.
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisation, advocacy and professional boundary skills, with the ability to work flexibly and prioritise family needs.
- Holds a current Australian Driver Licence and meets mandatory requirements, including a Working With Children Check and National Criminal Record Check.
