An established beachside Indian restaurant in South Australia is looking for their next skilled and experienced Chef to join their busy kitchen team.
SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and motivated Chef on behalf of our client, a popular Indian restaurant known for serving a diverse selection of authentic dishes. The menu features traditional curries, tandoori favourites, biryanis and vegetarian specialties, prepared using quality ingredients, aromatic spices and traditional cooking techniques.
Located in Adelaide’s western suburbs, the restaurant offers a welcoming dining environment and provides both dine-in and takeaway services to a loyal customer base and visitors to the popular beachside area.

Location – Henley Beach, South Australia 5022
Salary - $78,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to become an integral part of a friendly and hardworking kitchen team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a busy restaurant environment, preparing high-quality Indian cuisine while helping to maintain consistent standards across food preparation, presentation and kitchen operations.
The successful candidate will combine strong culinary skills with excellent organisation and the ability to support the efficient operation of the kitchen during busy service periods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Supervise and support the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
- Oversee and actively participate in the preparation and cooking of food and dishes for dine-in and takeaway services, ensuring consistency in flavour, quality and presentation.
- Contribute to menu planning and development, including determining ingredient requirements, portion sizes and associated food costs.
- Manage the kitchen cost control, budgeting, stock management and ordering of food and kitchen supplies.
- Check the quality of ingredients and finished dishes and maintain appropriate standards of presentation and portion control.
- Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, rostering and training of new kitchen staff.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, food storage, hygiene and food handling practices.
- Ensure kitchen operations comply with relevant OH&S; and Food Safety regulations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Relevant qualification, such as a Diploma of Hospitality Management - Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years (preferably more) experience as a Chef in a busy restaurant (preferably in Indian cuisine).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook high-quality dishes consistently during busy service periods.
- Experience supervising and managing kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment, whilst maintaining high standards and morale.
- Sound knowledge of food costing, portion control,
stock management and general kitchen operations.
- Good knowledge of OH&S; and Food Safety regulations.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A positive work ethic with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Available to work across weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
- You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
