Staff AI Engineer | Enterprise AI

n

Melbourne | Full Time | Hybrid

We're looking for a Staff AI Engineer to join our client's central Enterprise Technology team and help build and scale AI capabilities across the organisation.

n

This is a hands on senior engineering role focused on taking Agentic AI and Generative AI solutions into production, while providing technical leadership around architecture, engineering standards and responsible AI adoption.

n

What you'll be doing

n

n
- Design and build production grade GenAI and agentic AI applications and platforms.
n
- Lead technical design across LLM applications, AI agents, RAG, APIs and enterprise integrations.
n
- Build reusable AI services, frameworks and tooling that can be adopted across engineering teams.
n
- Work across AWS and Databricks environments to deliver scalable enterprise AI solutions.
n
- Establish strong engineering practices around evaluation, observability, security, governance and cost optimisation.
n




- Provide technical leadership while remaining highly hands on with architecture and code.
n
- Partner with software, cloud, security and data teams to move AI use cases from prototype through to production.
n

What we're looking for

n

n
- Staff, Principal or strong Senior level background in Software Engineering or AI Engineering.
n
- Strong hands on experience building GenAI, LLM or agentic AI systems in production.
n
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, ideally with Python and modern cloud architecture.
n
- Experience with AWS and enterprise cloud environments.
n
- Exposure to Databricks or modern data/ML platforms.
n
- Experience integrating AI into existing enterprise systems, APIs and workflows.
n
- Understanding of production AI concerns including LLM evaluation, guardrails, observability, security and governance.
n
- Data Science or ML experience is beneficial, but this role is primarily focused on AI and software engineering.
