The Clinical Nurse (CN) role delivers specialised, trauma‑informed support to children and young people, with a particular focus on clients presenting with complex, high‑risk, and multi‑layered care needs. CN’s practice is grounded in an understanding of the impacts of trauma on development, behaviour, attachment, and emotional regulation, ensuring care responses are safe, predictable, relational, and culturally attuned. This role works autonomously within the CPFMS multidisciplinary team and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of child protection specialist nursing care.

The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research.

About The Team The Child Protection and Forensic Medical Service (CPFMS) provide services to children who have been harmed or who are at risk of harm.

The Clinical

Nurse is an integral member of the CPFMS multi-disciplinary leadership team, who is responsible and accountable for quality and clinically effective paediatric nursing care at an expert level in the field of child protection.

The Clinical

Nurse provides collaborative family-centred care whilst promoting safe and professional standards of nursing practice and conduct, and providing support and direction to other nursing staff, students, interdisciplinary team and community agencies.

About The Role In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) inaccordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values .

You'll fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015 - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 and the Queensland Health and Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
