About the Role We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Commercial & Franchising Lawyer to join our growing Legal Services team.

This is an exciting prospect to work with some of Australia's leading franchise networks, emerging brands and business owners across a broad range of franchising, commercial, intellectual property, corporate, technology and regulatory matters.

You will play a key role in supporting franchisor clients as they establish, grow, protect and expand their brands. The role provides exposure to franchise network development, franchise agreements, disclosure documentation, compliance obligations, intellectual property protection, commercial transactions, business acquisitions and dispute resolution.

We are not necessarily looking for the finished product. Whether you are a junior lawyer looking to accelerate your development or a more experienced practitioner seeking greater responsibility and client exposure, we are interested in people who demonstrate initiative, commercial thinking,

Please note that this is a full-time, office-based role located in Parramatta. The position is performed onsite Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

- Draft, review and negotiate franchise agreements, disclosure documents, transfer documentation, renewals and a broad range of commercial contracts.
- Advise franchisors on compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct, Australian Consumer Law, privacy obligations and other relevant legislation.
- Support franchise network growth, expansion, restructuring and strategic business initiatives.
- Assist clients with business acquisitions, franchise grants, transfers, renewals, resales and franchise exits.
- Manage franchise, commercial and intellectual property disputes, mediations and enforcement matters.
- Prepare breach notices, compliance correspondence, legal opinions and other legal documentation.
- Advise on trade marks, intellectual property protection, brand management and commercialisation opportunities.
- Identify legal, operational and commercial risks and provide pragmatic risk mitigation strategies.
- Build trusted relationships with franchisors, business owners, franchisees and key stakeholders.
- Deliver legal training, compliance workshops and legislative updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to legal process improvement initiatives, precedent development and best-practice frameworks.
- Mentor and support junior team members while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.





About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Current Australian Practising Certificate.
- Experience in commercial law, franchising law or a related practice area.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- A willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute to a growing team.

Highly Regarded

- Experience acting for franchisors or franchise networks.
- Experience in intellectual property or trade mark matters.
- Exposure to corporate transactions or business acquisitions.
- Experience within retail, hospitality or service-based industries.
