About the Opportunity

- Part-time Fixed-term 12-month contract

- 3 days per week Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am to 4:30pm

- $40.49 per hour (SCHADS Level 3.1) Super salary packaging up to $18,550 (Pay less tax)

We’re looking for a passionate and organised Community Development Worker to join the Harris Community Centre in Ultimo on a fixed-term, part-time contract (3 days per week) for 12 months to provide leave coverage.

This is a hands-on, centre-based role where you’ll plan and deliver family programs, connect families with local services and create opportunities for children, parents and carers to build relationships and participate in their community.

You’ll become a familiar and trusted presence for families, children, volunteers, students and community partners.

About the Role

As a Community Development Worker, you’ll help strengthen the local community by developing programs, activities and events that bring families together, build confidence and connection, and reduce social isolation.

Working closely with the Centre Coordinator, families, community organisations, volunteers and students, you’ll create meaningful opportunities for people to connect, participate and feel supported.

Key responsibilities include

- Develop and deliver engaging community programs, playgroups, events and parent/child activities.

- Welcome families and connect them with relevant services, information and community resources.

- Build strong relationships with schools, health services, community organisations and local service providers.

- Support and coordinate volunteers and students involved in centre programs and activities.

- Maintain accurate client records, data, reporting, compliance and safety requirements.

- Help grow the profile of the Centre and Uniting through community engagement,



social media postings and collaboration with communications teams.

- Support community planning and outreach, identifying opportunities that respond to local needs.

- Represent the centre at community events, forums and local activities.

What You’ll Bring

- At least one year experience working with families and diverse communities.

- A person-centred approach, with a passion for helping people build confidence, connection and capacity.

- Experience delivering community programs, family activities or community development initiatives.

- Confidence planning and coordinating engaging events and parent/child activities.

- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and juggle priorities.

- Great communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to connect with a wide range of people and community partners.

- An interest in sharing community stories and promoting programs through social media and other channels.

- Good administration, data collection and reporting skills with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

- A Diploma of Social Science or an equivalent relevant qualifications

- Current paid NSW WWCC

- Current First Aid Certificate

Even Better

- Ability to speak a second language

- Experience documenting client experiences in client record management systems such as Carelink .

- Previous event design and management experience within local communities.

- Previous experience overseeing or supporting volunteers or students.





- Previous experience working in early learning or early childhood environments.
