Baseup Sheds is looking for an experienced concreter to step into a hands-on supervisory role across our concrete preparation and earthworks operations.

This role would suit someone who knows concreting, understands earthworks and levels, can lead a crew, and is confident taking responsibility for getting jobs properly prepared and ready for concrete.

The Role

You will work a few days ahead of the concrete pouring crew, taking control of upcoming jobs once they have been scheduled.

Your job is to make sure the earthworks and slab preparation happen properly, the crew knows what they are doing, and each slab is ready when the concrete arrives.

Your responsibilities will include

- Supervising concreters during slab preparation
- Directing our earthmoving operator on site
- Setting out and marking out shed slabs
- Checking excavation depths, levels and site preparation
- Supervising boxing, formwork and reinforcement
- Checking slab dimensions, levels, penetrations and preparation against plans
- Making sure materials are ready for upcoming jobs
- Looking 2–3 days ahead and identifying anything that could hold a job up
- Carrying out quality-control checks before concrete pours
- Training and developing less-experienced concreters
- Solving problems on site and keeping jobs moving
- Assisting with concrete pours and finishing when required, particularly on larger pours

You will not be expected to spend your days operating excavators or skid steers. We already have a dedicated earthmoving operator. You will also not be responsible for creating the overall construction schedule. Jobs will already be scheduled ahead of you.

Your responsibility is to take the upcoming work and make sure it is completed properly and ready for the pour.

What We’re Looking For

Ideally you will have

- Solid concrete slab experience
- Experience with boxing, reinforcement, pouring and finishing
- Good understanding of excavation,



levels and site preparation
- Ability to read plans and accurately set out slabs
- Experience leading concreters or construction workers
- Confidence giving direction and holding a crew accountable
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Good communication and organisation
- Ability to think ahead and solve problems
- A practical, hands-on attitude
- Current driver’s licence

Experience with shed slabs, large residential slabs, commercial slabs or similar work would be highly regarded. A Hands-On Supervisor

This is not a position for someone who wants to stand back and simply supervise.

You will be responsible for leading the preparation side of the operation, but you must still be capable and willing to jump on the tools when required.

On concrete pour days, our existing concrete supervisor will lead the pouring and finishing crew. You may assist on larger pours or when the team needs another experienced concreter.

We want someone who makes sure:

- Earthworks are completed correctly
- Slabs are set out and prepared properly
- The crew knows what is expected
- Problems are picked up before they delay the pour
- Quality is checked before concrete arrives
- The next job is already moving while the previous job is being poured

We employ our own concreters, operate our own earthmoving machinery and currently run three shed-building teams.
