Consumer Insurance Project Risk Advisor
- 12-Month Contract - Prospect to Extend
- Locations: Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane
- Working arrangement: Hybrid, working from home and onsite
About the role We have an exciting 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for an experienced Project Risk Advisor to join our Consumer Insurance team.
In this role, you will provide first-line risk support and advice across change initiatives, helping delivery teams identify and manage risk while meeting project governance, compliance and regulatory obligations. You will support project delivery risk governance, model risk management, delivery risk assessments and delivered risk assessments, helping ensure initiatives and missions are delivered safely from a risk perspective.
As part of a team focused on improving the execution of change initiatives, you will provide governance, assurance and oversight of change activities to optimise delivery and maximise the realisation of benefits.
You will also contribute to the Consumer First Line Risk program of work, identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives and supporting capability uplift in partnership with Business Risk Partners, Enterprise Delivery & Risk and the broader Risk community.
What you’ll do In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage the provision of project risk advice, ensuring delivery teams complete assessment activities and manage delivery in accordance with the Project Risk Management Standard, governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and guardrails
- Support the identification, assessment and management of risks associated with Artificial Intelligence models, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and regulatory requirements
- Help ensure compliance obligations and regulatory requirements are met throughout the development, deployment and oversight of Artificial Intelligence and other model-based solutions
- Design, create and manage procedural and process documentation so that requirements and expectations are clearly documented
- Develop and deliver training for delivery teams and risk resources
- Provide insights and support to Business Risk Partner teams to help strengthen risk practices
- Help ensure business practices meet expectations while balancing business-specific needs with consistent risk standards
- Identify business risks and issues to support the delivery of a high-quality, market-leading customer experience
- Share learnings and insights across the Risk community to foster a learning culture and strengthen capability
- Support and execute the three lines of defence risk model established by the Suncorp Board
- Build business capability and maturity so teams understand their risks and obligations
About you You will bring strong experience in risk, compliance, audit or project management, together with a sound understanding of the general insurance industry.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- At least two years’ experience in risk, compliance, audit or project management
- At least five years’ relevant industry experience within general insurance
- Demonstrated experience communicating with and influencing senior management
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring others to achieve high performance
- Advanced stakeholder relationship management skills
- Experience in optimisation, process design and delivery execution
- Knowledge of risk management methodologies and practices, including their application in a first-line risk environment
- A good understanding of insurance products, the industry, market conditions and customer segments
- The ability to undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis, draw conclusions and clearly identify risks
- The ability to identify and present key points and metrics with objectivity, foresight and transparency
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly, coherently and confidently with minimal supervision
- The confidence and commercial acumen to encourage robust discussion and appropriately escalate matters when required
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work independently
- Change management capability,
including the ability to recognise and understand the need for change and its anticipated impact on the team and individuals
- A customer-focused mindset and a commitment to continuously improving the quality and differentiation of the customer experience
- The ability to adapt and respond effectively within a continuously changing environment
- Strong influencing and relationship management skills across internal stakeholder groups
- The ability to apply customer and commercial acumen to improve business performance
- An understanding of significant legislative, regulatory and code of practice requirements affecting Suncorp Group, including the Privacy Act, trade practices legislation, ASIC policy and APRA prudential standards
- Deep risk expertise, together with energy and passion for the risk profession
A relevant degree in Business, Law or a related field is desirable. Experience in communications and change management will also be highly regarded.
