Matsuzaka Teppanyaki @ Chevron is a Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. We offer a range of traditional Japanese dishes in a professional and welcoming dining environment, with a focus on quality food, consistent preparation and good customer service.

We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team.

The successful applicant will assist with the preparation and cooking of Japanese dishes and will be responsible for maintaining food quality, cleanliness and food safety standards in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing and cooking a range of Japanese dishes according to established recipes and kitchen procedures.
- Preparing ingredients for daily service, including cutting, portioning, marinating and other basic food preparation.
- Cooking food to the required quality, taste and presentation standards.
- Preparing ingredients and dishes efficiently during busy service periods.
- Following recipes, cooking procedures and portion control requirements.
- Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
- Storing food and ingredients correctly and following stock rotation procedures.
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with relevant requirements.
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
- Assisting with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries when required.




- Minimising food waste and using ingredients efficiently.
- Working cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Communicating with the Kitchen Manager and other staff regarding food preparation and service requirements.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures.
- Performing general kitchen duties as required.

Skills and Experience Required

- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook in a restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
- Basic knowledge and practical skills in Japanese cooking and food preparation.
- Ability to prepare and cook food according to recipes and established kitchen procedures.
- Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, responsible and willing to learn.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Ability to work adaptable shifts, including weekends, lunch and dinner services.
- Food Safety and Food Handling certification, or willingness to obtain the required certification.
