About the role…

Reporting to the Manager Development & Regulatory, the Coordinator Planning Services is responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of Council's planning and development assessment services.

Working closely with developers, consultants, builders, government agencies and the community, you will play a key role in facilitating quality development outcomes across the City of Port Lincoln. In addition to providing expert planning advice you will lead a small professional team, contributing to their development, supporting them to achieve legislative compliance while building capability across the organisation.

What you will do…

- Team Leadership
- Coordinate and support Council's Planning Services team, providing leadership, mentoring and technical guidance while fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.

- Development Assessment

- Oversee and undertake planning assessments, ensuring development applications are processed efficiently and consistently in accordance with legislation and the Planning and Design Code.

- Technical Advice

- Provide expert planning advice and support to staff, applicants, developers, consultants, Council and the broader community.

- Stakeholder Engagement

- Build positive relationships with developers,



government agencies, consultants and the community to achieve practical development outcomes.

- Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities to strengthen systems, improve service delivery and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Council's planning services.

What they are looking for…

- Degree qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in development assessment within local government or a similar planning environment.
- Sound knowledge of the planning and development legislative framework in South Australia or equivalent.
- Experience leading, supervising or coordinating a small professional team.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills with the ability to build productive working relationships.
- Well-developed communication, report writing and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret legislation, planning policy and technical information and apply sound professional judgement.
- Robust organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and statutory timeframes.
- Experience with PlanSA and local government development systems will be highly regarded.
