Prime Rehab is seeking a reliable, friendly and encouraging Disability Support Worker to provide ongoing one-on-one support to a man living with a physical disability following a stroke in Thomastown, VIC.

This is a straightforward and rewarding support role focused primarily on walking, exercise and community access. The successful applicant will support the participant to stay active, maintain his mobility and work towards greater strength and independence.

The role would suit someone who enjoys being active, is patient and encouraging, and is interested in supporting someone with their rehabilitation and exercise goals.

About the Role

You will provide one-on-one support in and around the participant's home in Thomastown.

The main focus of the role will be supporting the participant with regular walking in the local area and, occasionally, accompanying him to a nearby gym to assist him with his established exercise program.

You will be working alongside an experienced neurological physiotherapist, with clear guidance provided regarding the participant's exercise and mobility program.

Shift details:

- Approximately 4–6 hours per week
- Weekday shifts
- Flexible days/times to be discussed
- Ongoing casual position
- Thomastown, VIC
- Local walking and occasional gym-based support

Responsibilities may include:

- Walking with the participant around his local neighbourhood
- Providing encouragement and supervision during walking activities
- Occasionally accompanying the participant to a local gym
- Assisting the participant to complete his established exercise program
- Supporting safe and consistent participation in physical activity
- Following established mobility and exercise recommendations

About You

- Comfortable walking and being physically active
- Interested in rehabilitation, exercise and helping someone build their independence
- Able to follow an established exercise and mobility program

What is most key is that you are reliable, encouraging and comfortable supporting someone with walking and exercise. Experience in disability support, rehabilitation, neurological conditions, physiotherapy, allied health, exercise physiology, personal training or aged care would be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working rights in Australia
- Reliable and professional approach to work
- Comfortable supporting walking and exercise activities

Desirable

- Experience supporting people with physical disabilities or neurological conditions
- Qualifications or studies in Disability Support, Allied Health Assistance, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or a related field
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Current First Aid
