Are you passionate about diversity, inclusion and community participation? Do you have experience managing volunteers, coordinating events and building strong community partnerships? The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Diversity & Inclusion Project Officer (Volunteering) to lead an exciting Volunteer Management Activity (VMA) project focused on reducing barriers to volunteering and helping community organisations create more inclusive volunteer programs.

This role provides a unique opportunity to influence the future of volunteering by supporting organisations to engage and retain volunteers from diverse backgrounds while strengthening community connections and social inclusion.

About The Role

Reporting to the Volunteer Support and Development Lead, you will coordinate initiatives that increase participation in volunteering among:

- Young people aged 12 to 18
- People with disability and/or mental health challenges
- Vulnerable women
- People experiencing unemployment
- First Nations peoples
- Newly arrived migrants

Working within the BVRC, you will collaborate with volunteer-involving organisations, community groups, Council staff and sector partners to deliver projects, training, events and resources that support inclusive volunteering practices.

What You'll Be Doing

- Deliver a flagship diversity and inclusion volunteering event featuring expert speakers and lived-experience perspectives.
- Recruit, train and support Volunteer Ambassadors who promote volunteering within the community.
- Design and facilitate workshops, learning programs and capacity-building initiatives for volunteer-involving organisations.
- Develop practical resources, communications and promotional materials that encourage inclusive volunteer engagement.




- Build strong relationships with community organisations, First Nations groups, multicultural organisations, faith-based groups and sector networks.
- Conduct outreach activities at community events, neighbourhood houses, schools, libraries and other community settings.
- Support organisations to develop accessible and inclusive volunteer programs that attract and retain diverse volunteers.
- Contribute to the growth and visibility of the BVRC and increase participation in volunteering across priority communities.

About You We're looking for an innovative and community-focused professional who can build strong relationships and deliver meaningful outcomes.

You Will Bring

- Experience managing volunteers and an understanding of current and emerging volunteering trends.
- Experience planning and delivering community events, workshops or capacity-building programs.
- Robust project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience developing communications, marketing materials and engagement strategies for diverse audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a proven ability to influence and collaborate with community organisations and internal stakeholders.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- A genuine commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
- Qualifications (or current study) in community development, social sciences, human services or a related field.
