About the Role

We are seeking a Draftsperson to join our Engineering Design Team, assisting with the design and development of custom truck bodies, vehicle accessories and components. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our engineering, workshop and fabrication teams to turn concepts into practical, production-ready designs.

You will have the opportunity to see your designs progress from initial concept and 3D modelling through to fabrication and finished vehicle, making this an exciting role for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life.

Experience in the truck, automotive or heavy vehicle industry is preferred but not essential. We are looking for someone with solid SolidWorks skills, attention to detail and a genuine interest in design and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
- Develop designs for custom truck bodies, trays, toolboxes, towbars, brackets and other vehicle components.




- Prepare manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Work closely with the engineering, fabrication and workshop teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture.
- Modify and update existing designs based on customer requirements and feedback.
- Assist with the development of new products and continuous improvement of existing designs.
- Maintain accurate drawing documentation and revision control.
- Assist with design calculations and engineering documentation where required.
- Provide technical support to the workshop during fabrication and installation.
- Assist with technical drawings and information for quotations and customer requirements.
- Ensure designs consider relevant Australian vehicle standards, compliance requirements and manufacturing practices.

What We’re Looking For

- Qualification in Drafting, Engineering or a related field, or relevant industry experience.
- SolidWorks experience is essential.
- Strong understanding of drafting and design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes, particularly steel and aluminium desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to design.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a growing business.
- Previous experience in truck, automotive, heavy vehicle, vehicle body building or vehicle modification is preferred but not essential.
