ABOUT MODERN VIKING

Contemporary Viking is a family run Australian e commerce business based in Beresfield.

We are looking for a reliable, switched on person to join our small team and help run the physical side of our e commerce operation.

This is more than a basic pick and pack job.

You will start by learning our products, picking and packing customer orders, organising stock and helping keep the warehouse running efficiently.

As you develop, you will also learn Shopify, fulfilment systems, product personalisation and laser engraving.

We are happy to train the right person.

Experience is useful, but reliability, common sense, initiative and willingness to learn matter more.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Pick and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Learn our products, product names, SKUs and stock locations
- Check products for damage, defects and quality issues
- Prepare customer orders for dispatch
- Restock and organise inventory
- Assist with deliveries and stock counts
- Help improve our warehouse layout and storage systems
- Use Shopify and fulfilment software after training
- Learn laser engraving and product personalisation
- Keep packing benches and warehouse areas clean, safe and organised
- Speak up when you see a smarter, faster or better way of doing something

WE WANT SOMEONE WHO THINKS

We are a small business, so we do not want someone who simply waits to be told what to do all day.

If you notice that stock could be organised better, tell us.

If you see a process wasting time, suggest an improvement.

If you think there is a better way to pick, pack, store or organise something, we want to hear it.

You will not be expected to know everything when you start.

We are looking for someone who learns quickly, uses common sense, asks questions and can eventually work independently without constant supervision.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR





You should be reliable, punctual, trustworthy and comfortable using computers.

You should be able to work at a good pace without becoming careless and be comfortable with the physical nature of warehouse work including standing, repetitive picking and packing, stock organisation and moving cartons safely.

Previous warehouse, fulfilment, dispatch, retail stock, inventory or e commerce experience is helpful but not essential.

You do not need previous Shopify or laser engraving experience.

We will train you.

PAID TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT The role begins with an initial one week paid training and assessment period as a casual employee.

During this period we will teach you our systems and assess things including reliability, accuracy, work pace, ability to learn, organisation, initiative and overall suitability for the role.

Ongoing casual shifts after the training period will depend on satisfactory performance and business requirements.

Weekly hours are not guaranteed.

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

November and December are Modern Viking's busiest months, including Black Friday and Christmas.

We are particularly interested in someone with broad availability during this period.

During peak periods there may be work available across many days of the week, including weekends, and additional shifts may sometimes be offered at short notice.

If you already know you will have holidays, travel, exams, another job or other commitments during November and December, please be upfront with us when applying.

For someone who proves themselves, this casual role has the potential to grow into greater responsibility across warehouse, inventory and e commerce operations as Modern Viking grows.

We do not believe in unnecessary micromanagement.

We want good people who take responsibility, enjoy learning and are not afraid to contribute ideas.

When orders hit, however, we work hard.

Customer orders need to leave accurately and on time.

CONFIDENTIALITY

This role involves access to customer information and confidential business information.

Successful applicants will be required to comply with confidentiality, privacy and company security requirements.

LOCATION

Beresfield NSW 2322

This is an on site position.

Reliable transport to Beresfield is required.

PAY

Applicable casual award rate plus superannuation and any legally applicable penalty rates.
