The Context

Carbrook Centre is a Christian, co-educational Special Assistance School for students in Years 7 to 12 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. The school's Governing Body is Transformed Futures. Carbrook Centre currently supports 40 students, all of whom require substantial or extensive adjustments. Students are professionally referred due to school disengagement associated with disability, which may include complex developmental trauma.

Our individualised Education Program prioritises regulation, relationships and engagement in learning. It is grounded in the Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) and incorporates Collaborative Problem Solving, restorative practice and animal assisted learning.

About the Role

We are seeking an energetic, relational and compassionate Wellbeing and Learning Facilitator to join our team on a casual basis. This is a hands-on role supporting young people throughout the school day. You will spend time alongside students in learning activities, outdoor spaces, animal assisted learning and everyday school life, helping them regulate, relate and work towards specific educational goals.

A key part of the role is mentoring and positive role modelling, particularly for male students who benefit from consistent and trusted adults in their lives.

The role could suit a university student studying education, youth work, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, disability,



community services, sport and recreation or a related field, as well as someone with experience as a Teacher Aide, Youth Worker or Disability Support Worker.

Key Responsibilities

- Build solid, trusting and consistent relationships with students.
- Provide individual wellbeing, learning and engagement support, including positive mentoring and role modelling.
- Support students to participate in classroom, outdoor, practical and animal assisted learning activities.
- Use NME, animal assisted learning and Collaborative Problem Solving to support regulation, relationships and reasoning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider student support team to contribute to a positive school community.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant qualifications, or current study, in education, youth work, disability, community services or a related field.
- Experience working with young people, particularly those with complex support needs.
- Ability to obtain current First Aid and CPR certification.

- Strong relationship building and teamwork skills, with an interest in outdoor and animal assisted learning.
