Join the VEC as an Elections Project Advisor – Technical Writing and play a key role in supporting candidates throughout the election process. Working within the Candidate Services team, you will develop and maintain clear, accurate and compliant communications, ensuring candidates receive timely information to help them meet their obligations and participate effectively in Victoria’s electoral events.

About this opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager, Candidate Services, this role leads the VEC's written communications with Candidates during the election period, supporting the delivery of electoral events. It plays a key role in ensuring Candidates receive timely,
compliant and up-to-date information throughout the election to allow them to meet their responsibilities.
About the team The Candidate Services team is responsible for managing the Candidate experience, as well as key processes relating to candidates such as Nominations and How-to-vote card registration.
A day in the life of an Elections Project Advisor – Technical Writing
You will support the delivery of election operations by drafting and maintaining candidate communications. Working closely with key internal subject experts to ensure material is correct. Organizing sign off for material during busy, time-critical periods.
Your role focuses on assisting with coordination, tracking tasks and actions, and maintaining accurate information that supports Candidate Services deliverables. You will work closely with others, follow clear direction, and adapt quickly as priorities shift—particularly during peak election periods when legislative deadlines are tight, and work is fast moving.
About you
- Experience providing technical writing expertise and advice to support delivering explicit and timely information for internal and external stakeholders within agreed timeframes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders, developing strong working relationships to deliver public-facing operational products.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to quickly change priorities, identify and escalate routine issues or risks, and manage competing demands during peak periods.
- Experience communicating complex processes and concepts for a range of audiences using clear and concise written documentation.
- Ability to lead small teams of staff to deliver a variety of written products within operational projects.
