The Opportunity In partnership with Stanmore, MIGAS is seeking motivated individuals who are ready to learn, grow and build a rewarding trade career at the South Walker Creek Mine, approximately 35 kilometres west of Nebo.

This is your opportunity to learn from experienced tradespeople while working with a broad range of electrical systems and fixed infrastructure in a real mining environment.
Job Details
Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship at South Walker Creek will provide you with the opportunity to become trade qualified while earning your UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to install, service, maintain, repair, isolate, test and commission a wide range of coal mining fixed infrastructure.
This may include high-voltage equipment, communications infrastructure and backup electrical systems.
During your first year, you will work a 4 days on (Monday to Thursday) / 3 days off Day Shift Roster, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real mining environment.
Depending on your home location in the Bowen Basin, travel would be required to the camp accommodation site (Nebo). Please note this position is drive in drive out (DIDO).
About You To be successful, you will have:
- A genuine passion for electrical work and a desire to build a career in the trade
- A willingness to listen, learn and actively seek recent learning opportunities
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good language, literacy and numeracy skills
- A strong commitment to safety
- Successful completion of Year 12, with strong results in Mathematics
- Completion of, or near completion of, an electrical pre-apprenticeship (desirable)
- A current Construction White Card
- The ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including a Coal Mine Workers’ Health Assessment, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and Police Check
- Residence in Nebo or the Bowen Basin region, with the ability to drive in and drive out to site
