Calamvale Community College has an exciting opportunity for a temporary full-time Engagement Officer for a period of six months, unless otherwise determined.

About us:

Calamvale Community College is a P-12 College with over 250 staff members and 2500 students on a single campus with great cultural diversity over 66 cultures represented at the college.

Your role:

The role is in Secondary and directly supports the Year Level Coordinators and Deputy Principals and is supervised by the Deputy Principal - Wellbeing and Engagement.

Responsibilities include:

- Generate daily reports on absenteeism, advise parents/carers and teachers, and document relevant information for input into the school engagement process.
- Generate a 'Daily Attendance Report' every morning and provide to all teaching staff and deputy principals, and advise teachers of amendments to attendance records due to late notification.
- Collect and coordinate data relating to student engagement, follow up students who are chronically absent, monitor student programs, and provide information to teachers and school leaders. Liaise with the Student Support Team to address issues relating to students experiencing problems that prevent their engagement at school.
- Maintain a database listing students that are independent students, students residing with carers (guardian kinship care/child safety officers), students where there are legal orders against the parents/guardians, or other issues that may impact on student attendance and engagement.




- Monitor attendance as a means of increasing awareness of students experiencing problems, and to allow for intervention before such problems get out of hand, and provide this information and advice to assist teachers with managing students with non-attendance issues.
- Develop relationships between the school and families of students who show persistent absence from school to encourage students' continuous attendance at school, assist teachers addressing these barriers to school attendance, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and procedures to counter causes of school non-attendance.
- Identify barriers to students attending school and achieving outcomes by referral to appropriate support services, especially students at risk (at home or in the school environment).

- You will be part of a energetic secondary student support leadership team and communication is KEY.
- Document relevant information into the school's student management system to maintain currency of student attendance and thus engagement in their individualised pathway.
- Advise relevant stakeholders of amendments to attendance records due to late notification.




- Collect and coordinate data relating to student engagement, follow up with parents/carers and students who are absent, monitor student programs, and provide information to campus leadership, teachers and the industry team.
- Monitor attendance and liaise with the Engagement Team to address issues relating to students experiencing concerns that prevent their engagement at school.
- Provide administrative support including assistance at Secondary HQ Reception window.

About You:

- The applicant should be knowledgeable with One School functionality.
- Knowledge of Education Qld policy and DOE standards are critical
- Expertise in using Daymap is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interpret and accurately apply policy
- Ability to multi task and take direction
- Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships and work as part of a team with broad range of internal and external stakeholders, but also independently.
- Able to self-manage completion of simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines.
