Kafe on Hemmings – Dandenong, VIC

Kafe on Hemmings is looking for an experienced, reliable and versatile Barista / Café All-Rounder to join our team in Dandenong.

We are looking for someone who is confident behind the coffee machine but is also happy to help wherever needed throughout the café. This is an all-rounder position, so the successful candidate should be comfortable moving between making coffees, serving customers, running food, keeping the café clean and supporting other team members during busy periods.

A positive attitude, strong teamwork and a high standard of cleanliness are very important to us.

About the Role

As a Barista / Café All-Rounder, you will be responsible for providing friendly and efficient service while helping with the day-to-day operation of the café.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Preparing high-quality espresso-based coffees consistently and efficiently
- Producing latte art to a good standard
- Preparing teas, iced drinks and other hot and cold beverages
- Taking customer orders and providing friendly, professional service
- Operating the POS system and handling customer payments
- Running completed food orders from the counter to customer tables
- Communicating effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
- Clearing and cleaning tables as required
- Washing dishes, glassware, utensils and café equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining the coffee machine, grinder and barista work area
- Keeping counters, service areas and customer areas clean and organised
- Restocking milk, cups, takeaway supplies, drinks and other items throughout the shift
- Monitoring stock levels and letting the team know when items are running low
- Following food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
- Assisting with opening and closing duties
- Completing general cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and welcoming café
- Supporting other team members and stepping into different tasks when required




- Remaining organised and maintaining service standards during busy periods

Please note: We do not provide traditional table service. Customers order at the counter, and staff are responsible for carrying completed food orders to their tables.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

- Has previous barista experience and is confident working independently on a coffee machine
- Has experience producing latte art
- Can make coffees and other drinks quickly while maintaining quality and consistency
- Has strong customer service and communication skills
- Takes pride in keeping their workspace and the wider café clean and organised
- Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with colleagues
- Is willing to help with all areas of the café rather than only working behind the coffee machine
- Is reliable, punctual and responsible
- Can work efficiently and remain calm during busy service periods
- Has good attention to detail
- Is proactive and able to recognise what needs to be done without always needing direction
- Has a positive and professional attitude towards customers and other team members
- Is flexible with duties and willing to contribute wherever needed

About You The ideal person for this role is someone who understands that working in a café is a team effort. While strong barista skills are essential, we are equally interested in someone who is dependable, clean, approachable and willing to get involved in all aspects of the café. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicating with customers and colleagues, and taking responsibility for maintaining a clean and efficient workplace.
