About the Role

Secondhand Forklifts Sales & Service is a growing forklift sales, service and repair business based in Bayswater, Victoria.

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic, Motor Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic to join our workshop and service team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklifts and associated equipment.

Applicants with experience as a Motor Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or Forklift Technician are encouraged to apply. Forklift-specific experience will be highly regarded.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties will include

Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults in forklifts and associated equipment

Inspecting and testing engines, transmissions, steering, braking and hydraulic systems

Diagnosing faults using mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment

Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions and other mechanical components where required

Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical components

Reassembling mechanical components and testing equipment after repairs

Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

Servicing and repairing diesel, petrol, LPG and electric forklifts, as applicable

Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders,



hoses and associated components

Inspecting and repairing forklift mast, carriage and lifting assemblies

Diagnosing and repairing starting, charging and electrical systems

Servicing and repairing braking and steering systems

Carrying out engine and transmission repairs

Performing adjustments and testing repaired components to ensure correct and safe operation

Reading and interpreting manufacturers' specifications, workshop manuals and technical information

Carrying out workshop repairs and field service/breakdown repairs where required

Completing service reports and maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records

Using workshop tools and equipment safely

Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Ensuring all repairs are completed to a high standard of workmanship

Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

A relevant trade qualification such as:

Motor Mechanic

Diesel Motor Mechanic

Mobile Plant Mechanic

Forklift Mechanic / Technician or another closely related automotive or mechanical trade qualification A minimum of 2 years' relevant mechanical servicing and repair experience

Experience working on forklifts, mobile plant, automotive or diesel equipment





Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Knowledge of engines, transmissions, braking and steering systems

Experience with hydraulic systems and hydraulic fault diagnosis

Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems

Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service information

Good problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Current driver's licence preferred

Previous forklift servicing and repair experience is highly regarded.
