Centacare North Queensland is seeking a passionate and experienced Family Support Worker to join our Bridge Program in Mount Isa.
The Bridge Program provides early intervention and family support to children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability. Through practical, strengths-based support, the program works alongside families to build their capacity, strengthen family functioning, improve safety and wellbeing, and prevent challenges from escalating.

About the role As a Family Support Worker, you will work directly with individuals and families through a case management service delivery model, identifying barriers to family functioning and supporting families to develop practical strategies that create positive and sustainable change.
This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to build trusted relationships with families and the broader Mount Isa community.
Your responsibilities will include providing culturally appropriate and flexible early intervention support; assisting families to strengthen parenting and household skills; undertaking safety and risk assessments; supporting the safety and wellbeing of children living at home; contributing to community education, groups and activities; maintaining accurate case management records and documentation; and building effective relationships with community,
government and non-government services.
About you We are looking for someone who brings a genuine commitment to working alongside families and understands the importance of respectful, strengths-based and culturally responsive practice.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Degree-level qualifications in a relevant human services or community development field with at least 12 months' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
- Experience in a similar role using a strengths-based approach to early intervention and family support
- Experience and skills in undertaking safety and risk assessments with vulnerable families
- An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and contemporary issues impacting communities, and/or experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- A current open driver's licence
- The ability to meet relevant Working with Children and worker screening requirements.
Experience in community education, group work, community services and/or the not-for-profit or faith-based sector will also be highly regarded.
