What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, reliable, and respectful Female Disability Support Worker to support a 55-year-old female participant based in Penrith, NSW.

The participant is a lower-leg amputee who uses a wheelchair and is looking for support to maintain her independence, participate in the community, manage everyday activities, and receive practical assistance around the home.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, non-judgemental, person-centred, and comfortable supporting a person with a physical disability and mobility requirements.

The participant does not have high-care needs, and there are currently no manual handling or feeding requirements identified. An indoor cat is also present in the home, so applicants should be comfortable around cats.

The successful worker should be respectful of the participant's choices and lifestyle and understand that support is about working alongside the participant rather than taking over.

Schedule

Monday

9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

8-hour shift | Ongoing weekly support The successful applicant must be able to reliably commit to the Monday shift.

Responsibilities Of The Role

- Provide person-centred support that promotes the participant's independence, dignity and choice.
- Support the participant with community access and participation.
- Assist with everyday activities, errands and appointments as required.
- Provide household and domestic support.
- Assist with maintaining a comfortable and organised home environment.
- Provide companionship and positive social interaction.
- Support the participant to participate in activities of her choice.




- Assist with drop-in support as required.
- Provide practical support related to wheelchair use and mobility while respecting the participant's independence.
- Encourage confidence and independence at home and in the community.
- Support the participant to complete tasks at her own pace.
- Maintain a patient, respectful and non-judgemental approach.
- Be comfortable providing support in an environment where alcohol use may be present.
- Respect the participant's lifestyle, choices, privacy and personal autonomy.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Complete accurate progress notes and documentation following each shift.
- Communicate appropriately with the Chosen Family team regarding relevant support matters.

Applicants Must Have

- Female Support Worker – required/preferred based on participant preference.
- Experience in Disability Support, Community Support, or a related field.
- Experience supporting people with physical disabilities and/or mobility needs is highly regarded.
- Comfortable supporting a person who uses a wheelchair.
- Patient, respectful, reliable and non-judgemental approach.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support and promoting independence.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working independently while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Comfortable around an indoor cat.
- Comfortable providing support in an environment where alcohol use may be present.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), where applicable.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Reliable availability every Monday, 9:30 AM–5:30 PM.
- Current and up-to-date compliance documentation.





About The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will understand that disability support is about empowering people to maintain choice, control and independence. You will be someone who is comfortable supporting a person with a physical disability while recognising their existing capabilities and strengths. Rather than taking over tasks, you will work alongside the participant, providing assistance where needed while encouraging her to remain as independent as possible.

You should be calm, dependable, practical and emotionally grounded, with the ability to provide respectful support without judgement.

Experience with wheelchair users or people living with limb loss will be highly regarded, but we are also interested in applicants who demonstrate the right attitude, communication skills and person-centred approach.
