Job Details
Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship at South Walker Creek will provide you with the opportunity to become trade qualified while earning your MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair a range of heavy mobile mining equipment and machinery.
During your first year, you will work a 4 days on (Monday to Thursday) / 3 days off Day Shift Roster, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real mining environment.
Depending on your home location in the Bowen Basin, travel would be required to the camp accommodation site (Nebo). Please note this position is drive in drive out (DIDO).
About You To be successful, you will have:
- A genuine passion for mechanical work and a desire to build a career in the trade
- A willingness to listen, learn and actively seek new learning opportunities
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good language, literacy and numeracy skills
- A strong commitment to safety
- Successful completion of Year 12, with satisfactory results in Mathematics
- A strong interest in automotive, mechanical or engineering work
- Completion of, or near completion of, an automotive or engineering pre-apprenticeship (desirable)
- The ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including a Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme, Standard 11 Safety Induction, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and Police Check
- Residence in Nebo, Moranbah or the Bowen Basin region
