We are seeking a detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join a team in Melbourne within the financial services industry. This role involves managing fund accounting operations, ensuring compliance, and delivering accurate financial reports.

Description

- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly fund accounting and management reporting across investment funds and associated entities.
- Calculate and review Net Asset Values (NAVs), including underlying investment valuations, accruals, management fees, performance fees and fund expenses.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for investment funds, trusts, SPVs and other investment structures.
- Perform cash, investment, loan and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Account for private credit investments, including loan drawdowns, repayments, interest income, capitalised interest, fees and other investment-related transactions.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of investor distributions, capital calls and other investor transactions.
- Monitor fund liquidity and cash positions and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Support investor reporting, including preparation and review of periodic fund reports and investor statements.
- Work closely with Investment and Portfolio Management teams to ensure investment activity is accurately reflected within the accounting records.
- Liaise with external fund administrators, custodians, banks and other service providers.
- Assist with half-year and year-end statutory financial statements and coordinate information required by external auditors.
- Support tax compliance requirements across the funds and underlying investment structures.
- Assist with regulatory and compliance reporting requirements.




- Maintain strong financial controls and contribute to the continued development and improvement of fund accounting processes.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of systems, reporting tools and automation initiatives.
- Assist with new fund launches, investment structures and other ad hoc projects.

Profile The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Approximately 2-5 years' experience across fund accounting, investment accounting, financial accounting or audit within funds management, financial services or professional services.
- Previous exposure to alternative investments, private credit, property funds, private equity, infrastructure or other unlisted investments would be highly regarded.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards qualification, preferred.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing or reviewing NAVs, reconciliations, financial statements and investor reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.
- High attention to detail and an ability to work effectively within reporting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across Finance, Operations and Investment teams.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with an interest in developing a long-term career within investment management.

Job Offer

- Competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $180,000 AUD.
- Permanent full-time position based in Melbourne.
