About the role:
Walhallow Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a full-time Vocationally Registered GP to join our team, working in Tamworth and Quirindi, NSW.
As a General Practitioner at WAC, you will play a vital role in delivering primary healthcare services to Aboriginal communities. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will focus on high-quality clinical care, compliance, and community health initiatives. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing quality clinical care, including assessments, treatment, and preventative strategies tailored to the community’s needs
- Developing and implementing GP management plans to support improved health outcomes
- Supporting the organisation’s compliance with AGPAL accreditation and Medicare MBS requirements
- Participating in community-based initiatives such as school and corrections visits
- Supervising clinical students and promoting skill development among staff
- Collaborating with allied health professionals and community stakeholders to address health challenges holistically
About you: To qualify, you will need AHPRA registration and a tertiary qualification in Medicine. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a VR GP will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications (e.g., FRACGP,
FACCRM, MPH)
- Accreditation as a GP supervisor with ACCRM or RACGP
- Experience working in Aboriginal Health or community-controlled health services
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal health, community health, preventative care, chronic disease management, and maternal health
- Knowledge of AGPAL accreditation requirements and Medicare MBS
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships within Aboriginal communities
- A commitment to working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary model alongside nurses and Aboriginal health workers
- A valid Class “C” driver’s licence and the ability to hold relevant security clearances
