THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Group Work Health & Safety Manager to lead the development, governance and continuous improvement of Mulpha’s WHS Management System and assurance program across our operations in Australia and New Zealand.
This highly visible group-level role partners with executive leaders, Boards, directors, operational teams and third-party operators.You will provide expert WHS advice, establish fit-for-purpose frameworks, standards, policies and procedures, and oversee risk-based assurance activity including audits, inspections, contractor assurance, critical risk verification, incident investigations and performance reporting.
You will also support leaders to build practical WHS capability, manage psychosocial and critical risk, respond to regulatory developments and use WHS data and digital tools to improve visibility, accountability and decision-making across the Group.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to
- Lead the ongoing development, review and improvement of Mulpha’s WHS Management System, policies, standards and procedures.
- Provide strategic WHS advice to executives, Boards, directors and operational leaders on legislative obligations, officer due diligence and emerging risk.
- Develop and oversee a risk-based WHS assurance program across audits, inspections, contractor assurance, critical risk verification and corrective action management.
- Partner with business leaders and third-party operators to support consultation,
cooperation and effective WHS management across shared workplaces.
- Prepare WHS reports, risk profiles, performance metrics and assurance outcomes for executive leadership, Boards and Board Committees.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action close-out and shared learnings across the Group.
- Drive continuous improvement through practical systems, data insights, technology solutions and leader capability building.
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Health, Safety, Environment or a related discipline.
- 8 years’ experience developing, implementing and maintaining WHS/HSE systems, ideally across complex, multi-site or operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulatory requirements and practical risk management.
- Confident influencing senior stakeholders, operational leaders and external duty holders through clear advice, sound judgement and practical solutions.
- Experience in WHS governance, assurance, audits, investigations, reporting, contractor management and continuous improvement.
- Proactive, pragmatic and self-driven, with excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Mulpha’s portfolio as required.
