Growing Renewable Energy company is looking for a Head of Engineering to join their team in the CBD of Sydney. You will provide strategic and technical leadership across BESS initiatives, while ensuring the engineering team continues to deliver high‑quality development, construction, and operational support across utility‑scale renewable energy assets.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the BESS engineering capability, shaping group-wide expertise, strategies, processes, and technology frameworks.

- Drive the strategy for utility-scale BESS technologies, hybrid project configurations, energy storage applications, and innovation priorities.

- Provide technical leadership for energy modelling, BESS sizing, performance optimisation, and technology benchmarking;

- Provide technical and cost leadership across all energy storage solutions.

- Lead technical negotiations and participate in commercial negotiations with battery OEMs, PCS/Inverter suppliers, EPC contractors, O&M; and LTSA providers.

- Lead the engineering team—spanning grid connections, solar PV, and BESS—ensuring excellence across design, modelling, and technical delivery.





- Define EPC and supplier contract scopes, support contractor evaluation, lead technical negotiations, and oversee equipment selection.

- Oversee engineering plans, drawings, studies, and specifications across all FEL stages—development, construction, and operations.

- Serve as technical authority for acquisitions, internal financing, and new project onboarding.

- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with EPCs, OEMs, technology vendors, consultants, research bodies, and regulators.

About you:

- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, energy, or another relevant discipline.

- Extensive experience in renewable energy, with solid exposure to utility-scale BESS and solar.

- Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams

- Deep technical understanding of energy storage systems, solar PV, and renewable energy technologies.

- Demonstrated experience in grid studies and Australian grid connection processes

- Excellent communication & engagement skills
