We are seeking an inspiring and highly motivated Head of Department to provide strategic leadership and support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the school. The Head of Department will play a key role in supporting teachers to implement effective teaching practices, monitor student progress, respond to diverse learning needs and contribute to whole-school planning and improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educational leader who is committed to building staff capacity, strengthening collaborative practice and ensuring every student is supported to achieve their potential.

About Us

Millmerran is a township of approximately 1500 people. It's located 80km South-West of Toowoomba and services a diverse rural community through timber production, cereal crops, cotton, vegetables, sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry. In 1999, a coal-powered power station was constructed.

Millmerran State P-10 School was established in 1882 as Yandilla Provisional School. The school's name was changed in September 1901 to Millmerran. Our vision is: Inspiring adaptable and resourceful life-long learners, connected to the world.

We have a very strong supportive school community, which has been built up over a number of years through the combined efforts of students, teachers, and families and school support staff working together towards the achievement of Excellence in Education.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Provide strategic and instructional leadership to develop and embed a shared vision focused on high-quality teaching,



learning and improved outcomes for every student.
- Promote a culture of high expectations, equity and inclusion, embedding socially just practices and setting high standards for student achievement, staff performance and professional conduct.
- Lead continuous improvement and skilled growth by supporting lifelong learning, building staff capability, encouraging reflective practice and implementing evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning.
- Build strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with students, parents, staff, government agencies and community organisations to strengthen student engagement, wellbeing and educational outcomes.
- Strategically manage departmental operations and resources, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies while effectively managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve school priorities and goals.
