The Myer team are looking for a Senior Merchandise Planner (known in the organisation as a Senior Planner) to join the Homewares team. This key leadership role partners closely with the Buying team to develop and execute a profitable, customer-focused merchandise strategy while driving sales, inventory optimisation, and business performance across the category.

About the role:
n
n
- Lead the planning and trading of key categories within Homewares, implementing commercial strategies and tactical initiatives to achieve sales, profit, and inventory objectives.
n
- Partner with Buying, Leadership, and Executive teams to develop and execute the overall category strategy.
n
- Prepare, coordinate, and present Monthly Merchandise Reviews (MMR) and financial forecasts to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
n
- Deliver accurate forecasts across key financial metrics, proactively identifying risks and opportunities based on sales performance, customer trends, marketing activity, and product performance.
n
- Analyse market conditions, customer behaviours, emerging trends, and competitor activity to inform strategic decision-making.
n
- Conduct detailed in-season and post-season analysis, including supplier performance, stock health, inventory productivity, and business reporting.
n
- Collaborate closely with Buyers to develop compelling customer assortments that deliver strong commercial outcomes across sales, gross profit, and productivity measures.

- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing planning team through mentoring, succession planning, regular feedback, and capability-building initiatives.

About you:
n
n
- Extensive experience as a Merchandise Planner, including leadership experience within a retail environment.
n
- Strong commercial, financial, and analytical capability, with a proven ability to translate insights into business outcomes.
n
- Demonstrated experience influencing and engaging stakeholders at senior and executive levels.
n
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop medium-sized teams.
n
- Experience using merchandise planning and forecasting systems is highly desirable.
n
- A degree or diploma in Merchandise Management, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, Business, Economics, or a related discipline is advantageous but not essential.
n
- Robust understanding of retail operations, financial drivers, customer trends, and merchandise planning principles.
