An incredibly exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Head of HR to join one of Australia’s fastest-growing retail businesses during a significant period of growth and transformation.
With a large and rapidly growing workforce , an ambitious pipeline of new store openings and international expansion on the horizon, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of the HR function and play a key role in shaping how the business, its people and its culture evolve through its next phase of growth.
This is not a role for someone looking to step into a finished corporate HR function. You’ll join a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where things happen quickly, priorities evolve and you’ll have the autonomy to build, improve and create as the business continues to scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the day-to-day HR function across a large, predominantly retail and multi-site workforce
- Lead, coach and develop a broader team spanning HR, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development
- Partner closely with senior leadership, translating broader commercial priorities into practical people initiatives
- Provide pragmatic, commercially minded HR advice across a broad range of people matters
- Drive a high-performance culture, connecting culture, capability, accountability and retention with broader business performance
- Support the people strategy behind an ambitious pipeline of new store openings and continued business growth
- Oversee a high-volume recruitment function, improving processes, visibility, consistency and time-to-hire
- Help evolve recruitment,
onboarding and workforce planning processes to support future scale
- Play a key role in the implementation and optimisation of new people and recruitment systems, including an upcoming ATS rollout
- Continue to develop scalable HR processes and ways of working without adding unnecessary layers or complexity
- Coach and influence leaders across the business, balancing employee experience, commercial outcomes and HR best practice
- Support the people requirements associated with future international expansion
- Identify opportunities to continually improve the effectiveness, capability and efficiency of the wider People function
What We’re Looking For
- An experienced HR leader with strong generalist HR capability and experience owning a broad people remit
- Ideally, experience within multi-site retail, fashion, beauty, wellness, consumer or another fast-paced frontline environment
- Strong exposure to recruitment and talent acquisition, ideally within a high-volume environment
- Experience leading and developing teams across HR, recruitment and/or L&D;
- Confidence across ER/IR and the ability to navigate complex people matters with sound judgement
- A genuinely commercial approach to HR – someone who understands risk and compliance but equally understands the operational realities of running a quick-growing business
- Experience improving HR, recruitment or onboarding processes and ideally exposure to HR technology or ATS implementation
- Someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, making decisions and creating structure while the business continues to evolve around them
- An energetic, resilient and proactive leadership style with the confidence to challenge, influence and partner with senior stakeholders
- A hands-on approach – you’ll be comfortable moving between strategic conversations and operational priorities when needed
Why You’ll Love It
- Join an Australian retail business experiencing significant growth and expansion
- Take on a genuine leadership role with broad ownership across HR, Recruitment and L&D;
- Lead and develop an established People team
- Work closely with senior leadership and have real visibility and influence across the business
- Help shape the people function as the organisation continues to scale
- Play a role in an exciting pipeline of new store openings and future international growth
- Opportunity to improve systems, processes and capability rather than simply inherit an established way of working
- Fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where you can make decisions, create change and see the impact of your work
- Genuine opportunity for someone ready to step into their first Head of HR position, or an established HR leader looking for greater autonomy, breadth and impact
