Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Truck Driver (HR Licence) / Forklift Driver to join our team based in Altona, Victoria.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their day, combining local metro deliveries with hands-on workshop support in a fast-paced heavy engineering environment. Working within a close-knit logistics team and alongside skilled tradespeople, you'll play an important role in ensuring production schedules, customer deliveries and operational timelines are achieved.
About the Role
This position begins and ends each day within our workshop environment. Your mornings will typically be spent supporting workshop operations, feeding production activities and moving critical rail assets across site, while later in the day you may undertake local Melbourne deliveries and pick-ups.
You'll be responsible for transporting and handling heavy engineering products including:
- Bogies
- Wheel sets
- Traction motors
- Rail components and associated equipment
Success in this role requires someone who is adaptable, safety-focused, highly organised and comfortable working across multiple tasks in a dynamic engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Local metro pick-up and delivery services to existing customers
- HR truck driving and transport of rail industry components
- Forklift operation including loading, unloading and asset movements
- Workshop stock replenishment and material handling
- Supporting workshop planning and production activities
- Daily forklift and overhead crane operations
- Cleaning, preparation and basic reassembly of parts and equipment
- Assisting tradespeople with workshop activities
- Use of hand and power tools
- General housekeeping and site maintenance activities
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality and operational procedures
Working Hours - Day Shift
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
- Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
Additional overtime opportunities are regularly available for interested team members.
Essential Requirements
- Current HR Truck Licence
- Current Forklift Licence (LF)
- Previous truck driving experience
- Experience operating forklifts in industrial or workshop environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent comprehension and ability to follow procedures
- Sound problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Full Australian working rights
Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in heavy industrial environments will be highly regarded, including:
- Rail
- Defence
- Manufacturing
- Aviation
- Heavy engineering
- Heavy haulage and oversized load transport
Experience using hand and power tools within workshop or production environments is also highly desirable.
Highly Regarded
- Dogman Ticket
- Overhead Crane experience or ticket
- Working at Heights Licence
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence
- Additional High Risk Work Licences
