Who we are?
Police Bank is one of Australia’s fastest growing Mutual Banks. We’re a purpose-driven financial institution that exists to serve those who serve the community. As we continue to grow, we’re focused on creating an exceptional experience for both our members and our people. That is where our People & Culture team comes in.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced People & Culture Manager to join our team.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this is a broad and hands-on role that combines business partnering with ownership of key, enterprise People & Culture portfolios.
In a larger organisation, many of the responsibilities in this role might sit across multiple specialist teams. At Police Bank, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and shape initiatives from concept through to implementation, giving you the chance to make a visible and meaningful difference.
This is not a people leadership role. Instead, it is a chance to be an influential individual contributor in a highly collaborative, high-performing team that genuinely influences outcomes across the organisation.
What you’ll be doing?
No two days are exactly the same. From day one, you’ll work closely with leaders across our Operations, Risk & Compliance, Marketing and Technology divisions to translate business priorities into practical people outcomes. You will provide trusted advice and coaching on a wide range of people matters that includes workforce planning, performance and talent management, remuneration, employee engagement and wellbeing, employee relations, and organisational change.
Beyond business partnering, you’ll also take ownership of one or two People & Culture portfolios, depending on your experience, interests and the complementary skills you bring to the team. This is an opportunity to shape and continuously improve functional areas while contributing to the broader People strategy. You will also contribute to our Employee Value Proposition, policy development, governance activities and the preparation of high-quality papers for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.

What we are looking for?
We’re a cooperative team, so everyone contributes. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting involved, solving problems, sharing ideas and finding better ways of supporting our people and leaders.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, likes being close to the business and wants the opportunity to have genuine influence over people outcomes.
You’ll be an experienced HR or People & Culture professional who enjoys operating across a broad remit and building strong relationships with leaders at all levels of the organisation, including senior executives. You’ll be confident navigating complex people matters, influencing outcomes and balancing strategic thinking with practical, hands-on delivery.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring:
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and employee relations
- Experience coaching and supporting leaders through a range of people matters
- Experience leading HR initiatives, projects or functional portfolios
- Robust written communication skills, including policy development, governance reporting and Executive/Board papers
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial judgement
Experience in banking or financial services is preferred,
however we’re open to people from other industries who bring relevant experience and the right mindset. What matters most is that you’re curious, proactive and always looking for ways to improve things rather than accepting the status quo. You enjoy operating with a high degree of autonomy, balancing strategic conversations with hands-on delivery, and moving comfortably between enterprise-wide initiatives and day-to-day people matters.
We’re genuinely proud of the People & Culture team we’ve built over the past 2.5 years and are looking for someone who will complement and strengthen the dynamic by bringing fresh thinking, expertise and respectful challenge.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
