About the role
Rosehill Secondary College is seeking a VCE Information Technology Teacher to join our dedicated teaching team. This is a full-time position based at our campus in Niddrie, (West Essendon) Victoria. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality VCE Information Technology curriculum to students, fostering their understanding of computing concepts, digital systems, and technology applications.
You will play a crucial part in preparing students for their Victorian Certificate of Education whilst inspiring them to pursue careers in technology and related fields. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic and personal development during a critical stage of their secondary education.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging VCE Information Technology lessons that align with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) requirements
- Develop and implement appropriate teaching strategies and resources to support diverse learning needs and abilities
- Assess student progress through a range of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning
- Set and maintain high expectations for student behaviour, engagement and academic achievement
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and achievement in accordance with school policies and procedures
- Prepare students for VCE examinations and practical assessments, ensuring they are well-equipped for success
- Participate in curriculum development and review processes to ensure contemporary and relevant course content for Years 7-10
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to the effectiveness of the IT department
- Communicate regularly with students, parents and carers regarding progress and achievement
- Contribute to the broader life of the school including extracurricular activities, professional development and school events
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and engagement
What we're looking for
- A recognised teaching qualification (Bachelor of Education or equivalent) with a specialisation in Information Technology or Computing
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or eligibility to obtain registration
- Demonstrated expertise in VCE Information Technology curriculum content and assessment practices
- Strong knowledge of contemporary IT concepts, programming languages and digital systems relevant to secondary education
- Proven ability to create and deliver engaging lessons that motivate and challenge students
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work effectively within a team
- Experience using a range of educational technology tools and learning management systems
- Commitment to career development and staying current with changes in IT education and VCE requirements
- Ability to inspire students and foster a love of learning in Information Technology
