About us
We're TNX Data, a Sydney-based startup building innovative compliance and governance infrastructure, automations and new services. Our platform helps Australian superannuation funds, asset managers, fund managers and investment consultancies manage private and public market data and APRA regulatory reporting and compliance.
Australian super funds hold over $4 trillion in assets but only a very small amount are invested in Australian innovations and contribute to building national capabilities. We think that better governed assets will attract greater allocations, and we plan on reducing the operating costs and solving the frictions, inefficiencies and information-shortages that this sector currently must deal with.
We are beginning in Australia and will scale into the UK, Canada, US and other similar markets over time.
We're a small and experienced team that's building fast. Everyone on the team has worked internationally in both successful startups that exited and in global blue-chip market leaders. We use a range of AIs within our work as well as build them into our platform, so everyone is strategic but also ‘on the tools'. You will have read how AI enables the tiny teams to do huge things - this is exactly how we work.
The role
We're looking for an Investment Operations SME to own the data and domain side of customer onboarding. When a new customer signs, you're the person who turns their private markets and investment operations data — holdings, valuations, cashflows, capital calls and distributions, custodian and administrator feeds — into something that's mapped, validated and live in TNX. You'll be the credible operational voice in the room with a customer's investment and/or finance ops team, and the translator between what they need and what our product and engineering team builds.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role at the centre of how TNX earns trust with regulated, risk-averse organisations.
You'll help establish how we onboard customers as much as execute onboarding. You'll be measured on outcomes — time-to-live, data accuracy at go-live, and how ready a customer is to rely on their reporting — not just on the activities that get you there.
What you'll do
- Lead data onboarding for new customers — gather, map and validate private markets and investment operations data against TNX's data model ahead of and through go-live
- Act as the domain-credible bridge between a customer's investment and/or finance ops/middle office team and TNX's product and engineering team, translating operational and regulatory requirements (valuations, cashflows, holdings, APRA reporting) into clear specs for the technical integration work (API, MCP, SFTP) engineering delivers
- Provide oversight to our Human-in-the-Loop architecture
- Own data quality and validation — catching discrepancies early, working with customers to resolve them, and signing off that data is ready before go-live
- Design and deliver training for customer investment ops teams so they can use TNX confidently and interpret its outputs correctly
- Build repeatable onboarding playbooks, data-mapping templates and checklists as TNX scales its customer base
- Spot patterns across customers in how private markets data breaks, resists mapping, or needs custom handling — turn those into reusable templates and clear, structured input for product and engineering, rather than solving each customer from scratch
- Be the first point of escalation for data or process questions during onboarding, and know when to pull in engineering, product or leadership
What we're looking for
- Around 8–10 years' experience in investment operations or middle office roles at a superannuation fund, custodian, asset manager,
fund administrator or investment consultancy
- Deep working knowledge of public and private markets data — valuations, capital calls/distributions, holdings, cashflows — and how it flows through fund administration and regulatory reporting; APRA reporting experience a strong plus
- Comfortable being the translator between operational/regulatory requirements and a technical team, without needing to build the technical solution yourself
- Track record of leading or contributing to data onboarding, migration or implementation projects, ideally customer-facing
- A communicator who builds trust quickly with investment ops professionals at customer organisations — patient with non-technical, time-poor stakeholders, precise about risk and compliance
- Comfortable working in a small, early-stage team where you'll define process as well as follow it
- Actively using available AI tools to increase your own productivity
Role Flexibility
We're open on how this role is structured. We need 3–4 days a week of focused capacity if the right person cannot do 5 days, and we're happy to flex the shape of that around what works for you — full days or spread across all five days at reduced hours. If you're returning to the workforce after time away, or balancing this with other commitments, we'd like to hear from you; we care about your personal energy, learning, fit with the team and that consequential work is delivered, not the number of hours it takes to get there.
How to apply
Every CV is AI-beautiful now, so please just send a short one-page resume and a couple of lines on the investment ops data types, regulatory reporting or onboarding/implementation work you've been closest to. We use ImmyHire, a new AI-driven recruitment aid, to conduct first round assessments, so applicants proceeding to interview will be invited to complete this short process.
Please note: due to the number of replies we usually experience from LinkedIn job ads we will not reply to those who don't have the above experience, or recruitment agencies, or those contacting us from outside of Australia.
