About the role

De Jong Hoists (AUS) supplies, installs and services construction hoists, mast climbing work platforms and associated access equipment across Western Australia. We have two permanent full-time positions available for Lift Mechanics, based at our Malaga workshop and working across client sites in the Perth metropolitan area.

Key responsibilities

- Examine blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications to determine the sequence and method of installation
- Measure and lay out installation reference points, base frames, tie-in points and mast alignment
- Install, test and adjust the electric and mechanical parts of rack-and-pinion passenger and materials hoists, transport platforms and other lift equipment
- Maintain, service and repair passenger and materials hoists and other lift equipment, on site and in the workshop
- Position and install electrical switchboards, control panels and isolators for lift systems
- Select, cut and terminate wire and cable to terminals and connectors
- Connect equipment to site power supply and test continuity of circuits
- Use specialist electrical and electronic test equipment to trace and diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical faults, and determine the correct solution
- Repair and replace faulty wiring and defective electrical and mechanical parts
- Set up, test and calibrate limit switches, overspeed governors, safety gears and other safety devices

About you

- Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Trade),



or equivalent trade qualification including at least two years of on-the-job training; or at least three years of relevant full time experience in lieu of the formal qualification
- Experience with construction hoists, mast climbers or comparable rack-and-pinion or traction lift equipment; experience with cranes, EWPs or similar plant also regarded
- Working proficiency in English sufficient to interpret technical documentation and complete written reports
- Valid WA driver's licence
- White Card
- Working at Heights and EWP tickets (or willingness to obtain)
- Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, service and repair of hoists, lifts and associated lift equipment
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills across electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Competent use of electrical test instruments including multimeters, insulation resistance testers and clamp meters
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical diagrams and manuals
