The Position
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, WHS Advisor/Officer’s is responsible for ensuring best practice processes and procedures are developed and operational across all sites in relation to the workplace health, safety, environmental and compliance. The WHS Advisor/Officer’s provides professional health, safety and environmental advice and support across all sites; and oversee the development and implementation of relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems to maintain compliance.
The WHS Advisor/Officer’s relationship with other team members is critical to the success of this position and the success of the Business.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Develop, implement and successfully embed health, safety and compliance policies and procedures to enhance ‘Zero Harm’ culture;
- Provide technical and professional direction on all health, safety and compliance matters;
- Conduct site inspection, including review of high-risk tasks and related critical controls, and provide feedback on improvements as required to Managers;
- Facilitate incident investigations and identify risk improvement projects;
- Improve workers compensation premium performance through the implementation of proactive OHS strategies and effective injury management and rehabilitation programs;
- Develop robust effective and simple programs to manage organisational health and safety risks;
- Facilitate a company-wide culture of safety awareness, ownership and engagement (includes establishing systems,



processes and training programs to support employees in meeting their legal responsibilities and accountabilities);
- Take a lead role in ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with COMPANY’s goal of ZERO HARM and in line with COMPANY’s Health and Safety Management System and any other applicable regulatory and industry standards;
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to spearhead improvement programs in HSE performance;
- Provide support to ensure employees have completed COMPANY and/ or client induction or training programs to ensure compliance with all health, safety, environment and emergency procedures;
- Actively pursue continuous improvement in developing and maintaining safe work methods that comply with all required legislation;
- Provide a hands-on approach to HSE management
- Identify areas of risk and develop measures to reduce and control in liaison with key managers;
- Provide guidance and mentoring to all Key holders in COMPANY.
- Manage/ Assist with incidents, investigations, injuries and injury management, and fitness for work issues;
- Provide an Auditor role in the company and participate in external and 3rd party audits;
- Review changes to the HSE System for effectiveness;
- Develop and implement HSE strategies to bring about the desired objectives of the organization; and
- Ensure high levels of interaction and visibility to assess, promote and monitor the HSE culture.




- Ensure that all workplace health and safety monitoring is undertaken and reported across the organisation. Manage related processes such as action tracking, registers, workplace inspections, contractor managements and safe task observation programs and reporting;
- Assist to develop, implement and manage effective internal auditing process and influence change to ensure ongoing improvement to reduce risk to health and safety of employees and contractors;
- Assist with external auditing processes with external supplier and provide recommendations to correct any non-conformances identified;
- Ensure all activities undertaken are conducted in a legal and ethical manner, and in way which protects COMPANY’s interests and reputation;
- Ensure all work undertaken is of the highest standards, and meets client and company expectations (includes meeting agreed timeframes and all paperwork completed to comply standards);
- Recommend improvements in HSE procedures and practices where appropriate to improve HSE performance; and
- Comply with all aspects of COMPANY Policies, systems, procedures, and legislative requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

- Cert IV in OHS/WHS
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a team with limited supervision
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment
- Experience in workplace investigations
- Experience in managing workplace injury
- C class motor vehicle license
