Why this role?
As the Senior Reporting Analyst, you will play a key role within the Division of Research and Enterprise, delivering high-level analytical, reporting and technical services to support research administration across areas including research and scholarship funding, Higher Degree Research (HDR), grants and contracts, and ethics and compliance. The role provides high-level expertise in data analysis, modelling and reporting, including the analysis and interpretation of complex data, development of robust reporting and analytical solutions, and delivery of actionable insights to support operational, strategic and evidence-based decision-making.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Reporting Analyst, you will turn complex research data into powerful insights, smarter decisions and better outcomes for UNSW. In this role, you will lead the development of robust reporting, analytics and data solutions across research publications, funding, HDR, scholarships, grants, contracts, ethics and compliance. Working with stakeholders across UNSW, you will deliver meaningful analysis, modelling and reporting, improve data quality and processes, and use tools such as SQL, Excel and Power BI to support informed decision-making and enhance research outcomes.

Who you are
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent competence gained through a combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience within higher education or a similarly large and complex organisation, with a strong understanding of research administration, research data and associated reporting requirements.
- Extensive experience in data analysis, modelling, problem-solving and reporting, using a range of tools and technologies such as Excel, PostgreSQL/SQL and Power BI, with demonstrated ability to translate complex stakeholder, business and strategic requirements into effective analytical and reporting solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in analysing and interpreting complex datasets, identifying trends and insights, and communicating findings and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination, with the ability to plan and manage reporting, analytics or data-related initiatives, coordinate stakeholders and dependencies, and deliver agreed outcomes within competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple concurrent activities and competing deadlines, and consistently deliver accurate and high-quality outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and communicate complex technical and analytical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
