Recruitment Expert is partnering with an established Melbourne accounting firm to recruit a Senior Accountant. This is an additional position supporting the firm’s continued growth.

The firm specialises in substantial family groups across a broad range of industries. Most operate active businesses, giving you exposure to the commercial decisions, structures and tax matters behind complex groups.

Your role
You’ll take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, working closely with a partner and receiving manager review and support. Your work will include:

- Preparing financial statements and tax returns across companies, trusts and related entities.
- Building relationships with business owners and their internal finance teams.
- Working alongside the partner on tax planning, advisory matters and broader client needs.
- Looking after the different entities within a family group, including SMSFs, with training where needed.
- Collaborating with experienced accountants on larger assignments.

Client contact starts from day one. Your initial assignments will help establish your experience level, with complexity and responsibility increasing as you become comfortable.

About you
You’ll bring:

- Around four or more years’ experience in public practice accounting.
- A sound grounding in business services and tax compliance.
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for companies and trusts.
- Transparent communication skills and an interest in developing client relationships.
- The willingness to work through more complex assignments with support.

Experience with large family groups or SMSFs will be useful, but there is scope to build these skills. Experience with different practice software is welcome.

Location and working arrangements
This is a full-time position working five days a week in the office, with on-site parking available. Flexible start and finish times can be discussed.
