Cordwell’s Group is a proudly Queensland‑owned business operating across transport, quarry, concrete, and civil construction. We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our Workshop and Maintenance team, supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of our diverse fleet and mobile plant.

About the Role

As a Mechanic with Cordwell’s Group, you will carry out high‑quality servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance across heavy vehicles, light vehicles, mobile plant, and fixed equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring fleet reliability and compliance with WHS and NHVR requirements while supporting daily transport, quarry, and concrete operations.

Key responsibilities

- Service, repair, and maintain heavy vehicles, light vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment.

- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform corrective repairs.

- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer and company requirements.

- Inspect vehicles and plant for defects, wear, and compliance issues.

- Repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, and driveline components.

- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas to a high standard.

- Complete job cards,



service records, defect reports, and maintenance documentation accurately.

- Support breakdown response and field repairs when required.

- Work collaboratively with drivers, operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.

- Uphold Cordwell's Group WHS policies, procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

- Demonstrated experience in mechanical servicing, repairs, and diagnostics.

- Strong safety awareness and compliance focus.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service documentation.

- Ability to work independently and within a team.

- Ability to meet Cordwell’s Group medical and fitness requirements.

Desirable:

- Experience with quarry, concrete, or heavy industrial equipment.

- High Risk Work Licence (e.g., forklift, EWP).

- Air conditioning licence (ARCtick).

- Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and mobile plant.

- Familiarity with NHVR defect reporting and maintenance compliance.

- Construction White Card (QLD).

- HR licence or higher.

Additional Requirements

This role involves manual handling, working in noisy or high‑activity environments, and occasional travel between sites. Flexibility for overtime, weekend work, and call‑outs is required.
