Northside Christian College

Everton Park

Northside Christian College was established in 1985 to provide an education that was academically excellent and spiritually wholesome for local Christian church members. Over thirty-five years later, Northside is now a leading private, co-educational, non-denominational Brisbane Christian college in Everton Park. We offer Christ-centered education from Prep to Year 12 on one campus. The College has become respected for great academic results, commitment to character development, sporting spirit, and passionate community service.

At Northside Christian College, we believe behaviour is shaped through teaching, modelling and restoration. Grounded in our Christian values and the Loving Our Students on Purpose (LOSOP) framework, we seek to create a safe, connected and engaged learning environment where students are supported to grow in responsibility, relationships and character through Christ.

We are looking for a Permanent Full-Time Student Care & Character Coordinator - Junior School who will encourage this learning and working environment across our Junior School. Working closely with students, teachers and families, you will provide proactive, in-the-moment support, coach staff and help ensure a consistent and positive approach to behaviour and wellbeing from Prep to Year 6.

About the Role

As the Student Care & Character Coordinator, you will:

· Champion positive behaviour and wellbeing across the Junior School, supporting the consistent implementation of behaviour education systems and the Christian values that underpin our approach.

· Work alongside teachers and students to proactively manage behaviour, provide in-the-moment coaching, support conflict resolution and restorative conversations, and help students re-engage positively in learning.

· Coordinate and support wellbeing programs across Prep to Year 6, including Bridge Builders and related peer support initiatives, small-group and individual student support.

· Coach and equip staff with practical strategies for managing behaviour and supporting student wellbeing, including supporting the induction of new and relief staff into our behaviour expectations and processes.

· Identify and respond to students requiring additional support, monitoring patterns of behaviour,

contributing to targeted interventions and assisting with the development and implementation of behaviour and support plans.

· Build robust partnerships with families, communicating regarding moderate behaviour and pastoral matters with clarity, care and a solutions-focused approach.

· Maintain accurate records and monitor behaviour data in TASS to support consistency, early intervention and informed decision-making.

· Contribute to the life of the Junior School, including assemblies, chapels, student gatherings, wellbeing events and initiatives that reinforce our behavioural expectations, Christian values and sense of belonging.

· Provide pastoral care as a genuine outworking of Christian faith, including praying with students, parents and staff, leading devotions, participating in worship and supporting the spiritual wellbeing of our community.

· Help embed a culture of belonging, resilience and positive relationships across the Junior School.

About You

You will be a committed Christian who understands the privilege and responsibility of working within a Christian educational environment and is passionate about helping students grow in character, relationships and responsibility.

You will bring:

· Current teacher registration (Queensland College of Teachers registration) with relevant Primary teaching and school experience (approximately 5+ years or equivalent experience).

· Demonstrated experience in student wellbeing, behaviour support, restorative practices, positive behaviour learning and parent partnership.

· Experience coaching and supporting teachers to develop practical and consistent approaches to student behaviour.

· The ability to develop, implement and monitor behaviour and student support plans.

· A calm, steady and relational approach,

with the confidence to respond effectively in challenging situations and difficult conversations.

· Strong organisation, documentation and case-management skills, including the ability to accurately maintain student records and monitor behaviour data.

· Current child protection training and an understanding of relevant compliance requirements.

· A genuine commitment to fostering a positive, values-aligned school culture.

· Postgraduate qualifications and/or Middle Leadership experience would be highly regarded.

· Most importantly, you will be someone who sees behaviour as an opportunity to teach, connect, restore and grow, and who can bring that philosophy to life through both your relationships and your practice.
