About the role
Join our team as a casual Aquaculture Technician at our Broome facility in Western Australia. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the yearly care and maintenance of our facility to prepare for the next production season. Your primary focus will be on cleaning, sanitation, and basic repairs, ensuring our hatchery is perfectly set up for success.
Key responsibilities
- Perform the yearly facility shutdown, including thorough cleaning and sanitation of all tanks, equipment, and work areas
- Conduct basic maintenance and repairs, utilising a mechanically minded approach to keep systems running smoothly
- Set up the facility for the next production season, ensuring all equipment is operational and ready for new stock
- Accurately document maintenance and setup activities
- Implement and maintain biosecurity measures, including disinfection protocols
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding routines, health checks, and water quality testing as the role evolves
About you
- A hands-on, practical attitude with a strong focus on cleaning, sanitation, and facility maintenance
- Mechanically minded with an aptitude for basic repairs and problem-solving
- Aquaculture or agriculture experience is highly desirable but not essential
- This is a physically demanding role. Successful applicants will need to pass a health and fitness test prior to starting
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks
- A team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
