About the role
As Sales & Marketing Manager, you will take responsibility for building a reliable pipeline of suitable industrial work and converting it into profitable, repeatable customer relationships. You will work closely with management and the technical team, but you will be expected to drive the commercial side of the business with initiative, discipline and sound judgement.
Key responsibilities
- Identifying, researching and prioritising target accounts, sectors and referral partners
- Developing relationships with industrial operators, maintenance managers, electrical contractors, automation integrators, utilities, renewable-energy operators and other organisations with critical equipment in service
- Generating qualified opportunities through direct outreach, networking, referral development, existing-customer reactivation, strategic marketing and partnership activity
- Understanding the customer's asset, downtime risk, equipment history, commercial urgency and decision-making process before committing technical resources
- Working with the technical team to translate repair and refurbishment capability into credible, commercially clear proposals
- Preparing, managing and following up quotations, proposals, scope documents and commercial offers
- Closing business: progressing opportunities to a clear decision, negotiating appropriate terms and converting suitable opportunities into confirmed work, ongoing supply arrangements, preferred-supplier relationships or service contracts
- Developing longer-term commercial arrangements rather than treating each repair as an isolated job.
- Creating and improving sales material, capability statements, case studies, customer communications, website content and targeted campaigns
- Building Rom-Control’s reputation as a trusted specialist repair partner—particularly where equipment is critical, ageing, obsolete, expensive to replace or difficult to support.
- Maintaining accurate CRM/Odoo records, including account activity, opportunities, next actions, quotation status, expected values, lead sources, close dates, win/loss reasons and commercial risks
- Providing concise weekly reporting on pipeline, activity, conversion, forecast, contract opportunities, marketing performance and barriers requiring management action
- Ensuring customer expectations are commercially and operationally realistic in relation to scope, repairability, parts availability, turnaround time, testing, logistics, warranty and payment terms.
About you
You are a salesperson and commercial builder first—not a person who only manages marketing activity.
You know how to identify decision-makers, earn credibility, qualify opportunities properly, develop a commercial case, handle objections, negotiate terms and ask for the order. You are comfortable with longer B2B sales cycles and understand that the best opportunities are often developed through consistent contact, good follow-up and reliable delivery—not one clever pitch.
You do not need to be an electronics repair technician. However, you must be comfortable operating in a technical industrial environment and able to learn enough about our equipment and process to ask intelligent questions, communicate value clearly and bring the right information back to the workshop.
Ideally, you bring:
- Demonstrated success in B2B sales, business development, account management or commercial leadership
- Experience selling technical services, industrial equipment, maintenance solutions, electrical or automation products, engineering services, asset-management services or similar complex offerings
- Evidence that you have personally developed opportunities and closed commercially meaningful deals
- Experience creating proposals, scopes, presentations, supply agreements, service arrangements or customer contracts
- The ability to build relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders—from maintenance managers and engineers through to procurement teams, business owners and senior operators
- Strong written communication, including clear proposals, customer emails, campaign content and capability material
- A disciplined approach to CRM, opportunity management, quotation follow-up and forecast reporting
- Sound commercial judgement around margin, scope, risk, customer suitability, payment terms and delivery promises
- Comfortable operating in a technical industrial environment and able to learn enough about equipment and process to ask intelligent questions and communicate value clearly
- Sound commercial judgement around margin, scope, risk, customer suitability, payment terms and delivery promises.
- A self-directed, organised and practical working style.
- A current driver licence and the ability to travel for planned, high-value customer or partner meetings when required.
About us
Rom-Control repairs, refurbishes, tests and supports critical industrial electronic equipment including variable-speed drives, power converters, controllers, automation equipment and associated power-electronics systems. We are strengthening our market position as a specialist repair and refurbishment partner for organisations that cannot afford unnecessary downtime, long replacement lead times, or premature asset replacement. Renewable-energy operators are an important and growing part of that story, but they are not our only market. Our customers also include industrial operators, maintenance and electrical contractors, utilities, infrastructure operators, automation businesses, workshops and asset owners with critical equipment in service.
This is not a “post on social media and wait for leads” job.
You will be responsible for finding and developing the right opportunities, building trust with decision-makers, preparing commercially sound proposals, following opportunities through, and closing work that develops into repeat business, service arrangements, preferred-supplier relationships and customer contracts.
Benefits
- Flexible, outcomes-based working arrangements where practical
- Approved work-from-home time for focused sales, proposals, campaign work and account planning
- Laptop, phone and the software tools required to do the role properly
- Reimbursement of approved customer, travel and business-development expenses
- Career development support relevant to technical sales, industrial markets, CRM/Odoo capability, marketing and commercial negotiation
- Exposure to specialised industrial, automation, power-electronics and renewable-energy service markets
- A defined opportunity to expand responsibility, income and leadership scope as commercial results are proven
- Superannuation
