A well-established, national transport company is seeking a Senior Mechanic / Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations while remaining actively involved on the tools.

About the Role
Location: Moranbah, QLD
Salary: $180,000 – $200,000 per year + Super
Workshop Hours: 10.00am – 8.00pm - Variable rosters are available
Company Car and Phone supplied

What You’ll Do
As the Senior Mechanic / Workshop Manager you will play an integral role within our workshop.
You will be responsible for all aspects of the workshop ensuring all vehicles and equipment under your control are maintained to the highest standards. You will lead a small team of mechanics and apprentices, while managing workflow, resources and customer expectations.
We run a small local operation, so this is the perfect opportunity for someone wanting to take that leap into a leadership position while remaining hands on, or for an experienced leader who wants to get out of the office and spend more time alongside the team on the workshop floor.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain a culture of safety first
- Lead, mentor and support workshop staff, including promptly addressing any concerns as required.
- Managing the daily operations of the workshop to ensure efficient scheduling and productivity.
- Ensuring the fleet is maintained to and in compliance with JJ’s Waste Fleet Management Standards with an emphasis on safety.
- Manage the service delivery and meet the induvial contract requirements
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, including the driving team.
What You’ll Bring

You will be committed to delivering exceptional customer service, working collaboratively and achieving results in a quick-paced environment while meeting the operational requirements of the role.
- Hold a relevant trade qualification (Truck Mechanic – Heavy Commercial Vehicle)
- Committed to upholding workplace health and safety, quality and customer service outcomes.
- Lead a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Have good mechanical aptitude and an exceptional eye for detail.
- Previous demonstrated experience in heavy vehicle/truck or diesel industry.
- Be dedicated and reliable; we are an essential services industry with our communities counting on us.
- Knowledge of hydraulic operation as well as waste compaction equipment is advantageous.
- HR/HC/MC Licence (preferred, but not essential)
What You’ll Need
- Undertake and satisfy a company pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening
- Current Australian working rights.
